Erich = Diva

My child has lost it. Last week he started throwing temper tantrums. Where do they learn this stuff?? If he doesn't get his way or totally out of the blue he'll do one of two things: 1) scream sitting in place or 2) scream sprawled out face down on the floor.

I've decided that either the terrible twos have started early or that colic is setting in late. Either way, I have no idea how to stop it. I walk away, he flips, I tell him to come over, he flips. I pick him up, he's happy as a clam. My system isn't working.

There is one caveat however, possibly a beacon of hope. He was sick. He threw up twice on Sunday and once on Monday night (either that or I had a nightmare from 2:30 - 5:30 am). I'm hoping he's just feeling yucky these couple weeks and next week I'll have my little bubble back. And that he hasn't learned new effective ways to make mama miserable!

oh yes it's true, the terrible twos sometimes arrive early and they can definitely go on longer than you might think! that was definitely the case with my nicholas!! we can sit down and swap embarrassing stories after you get a few good public tantrums under your belt, haha :)

He's so young, it's likely that he was sick, but don't you worry, those strong opinions will come! Especially since ... well, he IS Marc's son. And truthfully, as much as opinions and tantrums aren't fun, it is fun to start to see their tiny little personalities coming out! Good luck!

oh, i feel you. we are in the same boat (at 15 months)...nash has been sick too but something's telling me this isn't going away with the sickness. it's pretty comical at first, but then i want to strangle him. seriously-how do you handle it? time out doesn't do jack, anything physical is a no-no and is teaching him to be physical. sometimes i just yell back at him: "serenity now!" let me know if anything works on your end and i'll do the same! may the force be with you.

Tim is full swing into the tantrums also. He drops to his back and then uses his legs to move forward. I can't even count how many times he has hit his head on walls, furniture, you get the idea.

Most of the time he does it if he is somehow had an unjustice done him-like the object he is holding gets swiped by those pesky sisters or he is accidentally bumped. Oh the drama! Hopefully, they will soon talk and then can just say what is bothering them!

Thanks for the support, ladies! Today I figured out a way to gauge his level of distress. If I stick my cold foot up his shirt and he starts giggling, I know it's an act! Then he usually catches himself and starts whining again, but at least it makes me feel better!
